Bike Power, Bike Flour

We set up the Helena Farmers' Market this past Saturday for the first time. Not only did we deliver our veggies to our Helena CSA members, but we also set out some of our whole heritage and ancient grains. We brought our GrainMaker mill and the new bike attachment we got for it. For those who wanted their whole grain ground into flour, we accommodated by jumping on the bicycle and peddling the grain into flour for their pancakes and bread. It was a blast, but after peddling a few pounds of grain (ha!), I can tell I'm going to need to get into biking shape. At least I hope that it will be popular enough that I will be grinding a lot of grain. We also encouraged our customers to grind their grain and a couple of them did. We're going to be there every other week, so - calling all bakers - bring your bike shorts and visions of Lance Armstrong riding through the French Pyrenees eating a baguette.
