Prairie Heritage Farm: Emmer Up

The emmer has germinated and that makes me very happy. The following are photos of one spikelet that I dug up. Some emmer spikelets have one kernel and some two. This one has two kernels and hence, two seedlings.

About the Farm

Prairie Heritage Farm is a diversified, certified organic farm near Great Falls, MT on the Fairfield Bench outside of Power. It's a family farm owned and operated by Jacob and Courtney Cowgill. We offer organic veggies in the Great Falls, Montana area and heritage and ancient grains across the country.

We grow:

organic vegetables (click here for CSA and farm share info),

ancient and heritage wheat (Farro and others), lentils
and a variety of seed crops.
